Designer Minds: An Interview With Dimitra Petsa
One thing you can’t live without when you begin the design process?
My design process always begins with music, reading inspiring books, and speaking with my mother. These rituals help me enter a focused and meaningful creative state.

Can you tell us the inspirations behind the collection?
The collection is inspired by female divinity and the ancient wisdom embodied by goddesses in ancient Greece. I was drawn to the erotic energy of a woman in the ritual of a wedding, that intimate moment of preparation where she is ready to be reborn into love.

If your style were a song/music genre, what would it be?
If my style were music, it would live somewhere between the worlds of Shakira, FKA twigs, and Addison Rae, sensual, powerful, emotional, and feminine.

Do you have a particular piece that you favour the most?
My favorite piece has to be the Spring silk dress with its delicate strings. I’m in love with its movement, the way it floats and comes alive when worn. It feels like the ultimate wedding-party dress, so ethereal yet so fun at the same time
How do you make the final decision on the colour palette?
Choosing the colours is very intuitive for me. I build a universe around the collection, and then I wait for the tones that feel natural within it.

What has changed as your designs have evolved?
I feel that my work transforms alongside the women I create for. With every bespoke dress, there is an exchange of energy, ideas, and emotions. Their individuality pushes me to evolve and to see femininity in new ways each time.

A real bucket list moment in your career?
Seeing Rihanna in our design, Gigi Hadid wearing a piece during such an intimate pregnancy moment, and contributing to Beyoncé’s concert, were true bucket-list milestones for me. Those moments felt surreal and deeply affirming.
Can you describe the Cappellazzo bride in three words? What do they all have in common?
Elevated, Divine, Sensual
