❤️ The TWC Effect – Our brides, their way ❤️

Jessica and Laurie made it out of the DMs and down the aisle! This duo are showing us all the lovely details of their big day today, with a gorgeous glimpse into their love story so far.

How did you meet?

We originally met in a night club where we got chatting and shared a drunken kiss, we then exchanged instagrams and went out separate ways, myself not really remembering much of the club the night before!

Three years later I received a message request from someone I didn’t follow asking if I now lived in London as he did too, it was Laurie. Safe to say he was shocked that it took three years to get a follow back haha. As we both did in fact then live in London at the time we arranged to meet up for a drink.

Was it love at first sight?

I can safely say it absolutely was, we talked and drank cocktails for hours and quickly realised we were the male and female version of each other. We had so much fun and the time just flew, we then made plans to meet every single week until we became official.

Who proposed and how? Lovely details, please!

Laurie proposed on the beautiful island of Mykonos, he rented a boat and took us to a private island where he popped the question with a stunning ring. He then checked us into a new gorgeous hotel where we were showered with champagne, it really was the most special time.

Did you have a theme for your wedding? How did it come about?

The theme for the wedding was elegant romantic, with a blush pink colour scheme running throughout from our florals to bridal & groomsman parties, down to the stationary. To add to the day we had an incredible singer who sang as I walked down the aisle in the chapel and also during our drinks reception, it really added to the romantic theme of the day.

Location and how you found it?

As we have now moved back up north we chose the location of Rudding Park in Harrogate, we had both visited the venue before for the luxury spa facilities so knew it was somewhere we both loved as we had always had our heart set on a UK wedding.

How did you find The Wedding Club? Tell us about that moment when you found and chose your dress – how did it make you feel when you put it on for the first time?

I found the wedding club via instagram after seeing it pop up on various other new brides pages and just thought every dress I saw looked absolutely stunning, so it was in fact the only place I enquired and booked to try on my dress! I knew I wanted to be a TWC bride from the get go.

I had seen my dress online on the Berta website and instagram page and instantly fell in love with it. It was my DREAM dress. I also saw a few others I loved from there too so I was hoping I would find at least one of these dresses in store. The moment I walked into the store we were greeted with the most friendly warm atmosphere from Mel & the rest of the staff who were amazing from start to finish.

I instantly spotted THE Berta dress hanging up and was just elated, as soon as I put the dress on I just knew it was the one, and my whole family agreed. I was actually 4 months postpartum so I didn’t feel confident in myself at the time but that dress made me instantly ooze confidence and I felt the best I had felt in years. I knew it had to be the one there and then. Mel also picked a few wild cards which I loved too and would never have chosen them myself if it wasn’t for her.

Which designer did you wear?

Berta.

Where is the suit from? Why was it the perfect fit?

The suit is from Reiss, it was just really classy and the material was just of incredible quality.

Did you have speeches? Who performed them?

We had 4 speeches – Father of the Bride, Groom, Best man & Maid of Honour (my sister, who had the whole room in floods of tears which no doubt will be shown on the wedding video we are yet to see). Each speech was truly perfect.

Did you have a first dance? What song did you choose and why? How was the performance?

Yes, we decided we didn’t want a traditional slow dance for our first dance so we chose Forever by Chris Brown. This really got the crowd going and within minutes the floor was filled with all our loved ones singing, dancing and just having the best time. We then had a second dance which was for our little girl who is 20 months, Shake It Off by Taylor Swift (her favourite song) and she was dancing to her hearts content, it was such a heartwarming moment seeing her enjoy herself so much.

How was the party?

The party was incredible; we really just danced all night. We had live performances from the groom and other members of our family. As mentioned, our little girl being the star of the show. We did not stop dancing until 1am.

Wedding planning advice for brides to be?

Enjoy every single second, it goes so fast. Try not to get caught up in the stress of it because everything works out even better than you can imagine on the day. As far as dress shopping I would 100% recommend trying on dresses you would not initially pick because I found this surprised me the most, the ones I thought I would love I wasn’t as keen on where as ones I wouldn’t have chosen were strong contenders.

One moment you’ll never forget:

The doors to the chapel opening and seeing Laurie stood at the altar with tears in his eyes, completely magical. Best day of my life.
